Wellbeing guides

We’ve curated a selection of guides, videos, and articles from around the region and especially the former Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Wellbeing Hub into a self-help section of our site. These articles and carefully-chosen resources are about wellbeing and ways to cope with life’s challenges. You can search the collection or choose from one of these subject areas:

Eight week Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction course

Mindfulness

A free, online, evidence-based programme that runs over eight weeks. It is designed to support people in managing stress, anxiety, and chronic pain through practical mindfulness techniques. Based on the original MBSR model developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, the course includes a combination of guided meditation, gentle movement, and body awareness exercises. The aim is to help participants build resilience, improve emotional wellbeing, and develop greater awareness of the present moment.

Wellbeing Wednesdays

Between April 2022 and April 2023 our colleagues at LLR Training Hub alongside Move Breathe Achieve published a video every Wednesday. Each gave an opportunity to take some time out from our busy week to concentrate on our wellbeing for a little while. We’ve archived these video links, and there is still plenty to keep you interested and informed.

Resource booklet

Resource booklet

We’ve put together a simple guide that contains a list of resources we have identified as being useful and interesting to people who want to explore their concerns, perhaps before coming to see a counsellor.

This list of resources is set out simply by the area of interest, who provides the resource, if there is the cost to use it, and where to find them.  Please note, although we review this list on a regular basis, some of these resources may have become unavailable at the location we specified.

The resources are presented as guides only and are not formal recommendations.

Wellbeing apps for NHS staff

Stay Alive

NHS England offers free access to several wellbeing apps to support staff mental health and resilience. These include Unmind for proactive mental health management, Stay Alive for suicide prevention, and Bright Sky for domestic abuse support. Access typically requires an NHS email, though Stay Alive is open to all. These tools aim to help NHS staff manage stress, improve sleep, and build emotional resilience.
